Minimum wage by state (2026)

The federal minimum wage is $7.25 an hour. Many states require more. Where state and federal law both apply, your employer must pay the higher rate.

2026 rate: the statewide minimum wage in effect in October 2026 ($7.25 where the state uses the federal rate or has none). Some states have higher regional, city or county rates and lower rates for small employers or young workers; see each state's page. Tipped cash wage: the least an employer may pay in cash when tips make up the rest.
